Context
On May 29, 2010, Landgraaf marks Green Day's return to Europe on the 21st Century Breakdown tour. After the legs in Oceania and Asia, the trio reaches the Pinkpop main stage with three touring musicians and room for more than two hours of music.
The title track opens the way for Know Your Enemy and East Jesus Nowhere. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool cross that material with songs from Dookie and American Idiot. Between When I Come Around and Brain Stew comes a hard rock medley; further on, Shout unfolds into four other songs.
The road continues through Europe and still reaches the Americas before ending in October. The tour also yields Awesome as Fuck, with recordings from several cities and a DVD filmed in Japan, not in Landgraaf. The Pinkpop recording preserves another scale of this phase: a festival, two encores and Good Riddance at the close.
- Jesus of Suburbia changes its lyrics to mention Holland.
- Two encores carry the finale from American Idiot to Good Riddance.
