“To see Brandon Saller take the front at Rock am Ring during Alex Varkatzas's medical absence.”
Context
On June 9, 2019, Atreyu arrives at the Nürburgring with an absence that changes how the stage is laid out. Alex Varkatzas had pulled out of the European tour for health reasons. Brandon Saller leaves the drum kit to take the front, while Kyle Rosa takes his place behind the kit.
On the Volcano Stage, Saller shares vocal duties with bassist Marc McKnight. The Time Is Now opens the set, and House of Gold also represents In Our Wake, the most recent album. Between those two points come Right Side of the Bed, Bleeding Mascara and a cover of Bon Jovi's You Give Love a Bad Name.
Blow closes the ten songs of a set streamed by MagentaMusik 360 and later made available on demand. The stopgap solution takes on another meaning in the band's next chapter: after Varkatzas leaves in 2020, Saller stays out front and Rosa officially joins. The recording preserves a lineup that was still an emergency fix.
- Kyle Rosa takes over the drums before officially joining the band.
