Context
On August 4, 2018, a banner dozens of meters long bearing the word FREEDOM unfurls in front of the main stage in Kostrzyn nad Odrą. The Amnesty International action accompanies Alpha Blondy's show on the last day of Pol'and'Rock. Freedom of expression and the right to protest give the night a concrete dimension.
On stage, Blondy starts with Psaume 23 and moves on to Jerusalem. Multipartisme, Crime spirituel and Peace in Liberia keep politics and spirituality close together. Cocody Rock runs through this sequence, while The Heathen and Wish You Were Here bring two worlds of reference together. Brigadier Sabari and Sweet Fanta Diallo lead the home stretch.
A few weeks later, on August 31, Human Race joins the singer's catalog. The Polish show stays centered on earlier songs, with no tracks from the new album in the recorded run. The festival's footage preserves this slice: a long-spanning repertoire crossed by a public demonstration in defense of freedom.
