“To see Sting and Dominic Miller in front of The Night Watch, during the painting's restoration at the Rijksmuseum.”
Context
On January 19, 2026, The Night Watch sits behind glass for restoration, while Sting takes a small stage in front of it. The Rijksmuseum hosts the singer and Dominic Miller for a duo performance. The visit brings the Dutch paintings close to the shipyard memories that run through The Last Ship.
Sting sings and plays acoustic guitar alongside his longtime partner. Message in a Bottle opens the musical sequence; Island of Souls, The Last Ship and August Winds share space with Fields of Gold and Roxanne. Between songs, he walks through the galleries and talks about literature, painting and childhood.
The library also makes it into the film: there, Ghost Story gets a performance with no audience. Directed by Florian Breuer, the special reaches ARTE's platform in March 2026 and later television. In June, part of the session comes out on CD and vinyl, extending the meeting between song and museum.
- Ghost Story takes the performance into the museum's library, with no audience.
