Context
On the opening Thursday of Bloodstock 2023, the Sophie Lancaster Stage welcomes the pirates of Visions of Atlantis before SKYND. The band arrives in Walton-on-Trent with Pirates already released and an identity that trades the idea of a journey for an affirmation of freedom and self-discovery.
Clémentine Delauney and Michele Guaitoli share vocals, backed by Christian Douscha, Herbert Glos, and Thomas Caser. Master the Hurricane opens the recorded sequence. Clocks, Darkness Inside, and Freedom keep Pirates at the center, while A Life of Our Own and A Journey to Remember revisit Wanderers.
Melancholy Angel closes this portion of the performance, preserved by the festival with audio captured directly from the soundboard. The following year, Pirates II – Armada continues the theme. Here, the Bloodstock appearance captures the previous chapter: five songs from Pirates anchor a selection of eight.
