Context
Thirty years separate Somewhere Far Beyond from this night of June 4, 2022. In Gelsenkirchen, Blind Guardian find a Rock Hard Festival back to its usual size after the pandemic restrictions. The occasion turns the album's anniversary into a stage commitment: playing all ten of its tracks.
Hansi Kürsch takes vocals, between the guitars of André Olbrich and Marcus Siepen. Johan van Stratum, Michael Schüren and Frederik Ehmke complete the lineup. Into the Storm opens the way for the anniversary block, which brings together both parts of The Bard's Song and flows into the title track. Valhalla and Mirror Mirror close the show.
The celebration comes before the arrival of The God Machine in September of that year. Rockpalast records the night, and the Somewhere Far Beyond block finds another home in 2024: it is part of the Blu-ray in the limited edition of Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited, alongside the Hellfest performance. The tribute also remains as a document.
