Context
On August 12, 2018, Catton Park bridges the distance between Kathmandu and the British festival circuit. Underside arrives at Bloodstock after touring Europe and Australia. Joining the Nepali quartet is Mohini Dey, a collaboration born from a meeting in Sydney.
The opening meets resistance: technical problems delay the start by more than fifteen minutes and leave the sound levels unbalanced. Masked dancers take the Sophie Lancaster Stage as the performance finds its footing. Welcome to the Underside draws more people into the tent; Dey takes over the bass parts the band previously supplied through recordings.
The festival appearance is captured in a complete seven-song recording, released that December by Bloodstock itself. Gadhimai opens the set and All Notes Off closes the 35 minutes preserved. Between the delay and the recovery in front of the crowd, the recording documents a concrete step for Nepali metal beyond its home circuit.
