Album featured at the showKarawara2021The virtual performance celebrates the release of Karawara, with all eleven songs drawn from the album.“To see Rommel launch Karawara virtually in Montreal before taking the project on the road in 2022.”
Context
In November 2021, the connection with the audience takes place through a screen. A Maranhão native based in Canada, Rommel presents Karawara as a virtual launch, recorded at La Casona in Montreal. The name refers to forest spirits and guides a tribute to Indigenous peoples and their struggle for recognition.
Onstage, Rommel handles vocals and acoustic guitar alongside seven musicians. André Galamba serves as musical director and bassist; Vovô Saramanda plays percussion, David Ryshpan takes the keyboards, and Aquiles Melo plays drums. Claire Devlin, Allison Burik, and Melissa Pipe round out the ensemble on tenor, alto, and baritone saxophones.
Agô opens a sequence of eleven songs, closing with Selvagem. The performance accompanies the album's release through Biscoito Fino and remains an audiovisual document of this phase. In 2022, the project hits the road, with performances in Germany and the Americas: the concept developed during the time away from audiences reaches other stages.
