Context
At 3:30 p.m. on a sunny Monday in Landgraaf, Pinkpop's main stage welcomes NOFX between Anouk and K's Choice. It is June 1, 1998. The band arrives on the European leg of So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes with the quartet settled since El Hefe joined in 1991.
Fat Mike, Eric Melvin, El Hefe and Erik Sandin open with Kids of the K-Hole and tear through three dozen songs in about an hour. The recent record shares space with Punk in Drublic. Between Linoleum and Hot Dog in a Hallway, We Don't Play Ska Anymore gets the variant We Like the Dutch So Much.
After Landgraaf, the route moves on to Brussels and Essen. The Pinkpop stop stays tied to the festival's television archive, which includes NOFX in the 1998 broadcast. Preserved and released in full decades later, the performance brings together the recent material and the songs that already carry the group's independent path.
- We Don't Play Ska Anymore gets a version dedicated to the Dutch.
