Context
On May 18, 1997, Pinkpop's north stage welcomes a band that has gone back to recording with Milo Aukerman after almost a decade. Everything Sucks had come out the year before. In Landgraaf, Descendents puts that reunion in front of a festival that also hosts Placebo and Rammstein that Sunday.
Aukerman takes vocals with Stephen Egerton on guitar, Karl Alvarez on bass and Bill Stevenson on drums. I'm the One, Coffee Mug and When I Get Old bring the recent record to the stage. Hope, Bikeage and Myage pull the past in close, while Fool opens a detour into ALL, the three instrumentalists' project.
The encore gathers This Place, Catalina and Coolidge, without separating the nineties comeback from the earlier material. The Everything Sucks run of tours continues until August 1997. Preserved in the festival's audiovisual archive, the recording captures that window of activity: Milo back up front, with new songs sharing space with the ones that kept the band going during his absence.
- Fool links Descendents to ALL, with the same three instrumentalists.
