“To see Bibi capture two decades of her theatrical connection with Piaf at Maison de France.”
Context
In January 2004, Maison de France hosts Bibi Ferreira for two performances dedicated to Edith Piaf. The recording revisits a connection built in the theater since 1983. The project celebrates two closely timed milestones: twenty years of that stage work and forty years since the French singer's death.
Bibi sings accompanied by Camerata Santa Teresa and the Núcleo de Canto Elena Zanotti choir, under the musical direction of Nelson Melim. Nilson Raman intersperses the songs with narration and joins her on À quoi ça sert l'amour. La Foule opens the program; Non, je ne regrette rien closes the sixteen-song set.
The two nights become a CD and DVD released by Biscoito Fino later in 2004. The video edition adds an interview and a making-of feature to the performance. The recording takes a longstanding connection beyond the theater: Bibi does not turn to Piaf for a one-off tribute, but returns to work that spans decades.
- Nilson Raman moves from narration to a duet on À quoi ça sert l'amour.
