“To see Alan Parsons at the SWR Funkhaus in 2014, as Fragile adds new material to the Project catalog.”
Context
In August 2014, the Alan Parsons Project catalog meets something new on the Mainz stage: Fragile, a single released that year. At the SWR Funkhaus, Parsons gathers eight musicians for a TV performance. The past fills almost the whole program, but does not close the door on the musician's recent work.
Luciferama opens the set, which moves through Damned If I Do, Time and Old and Wise. At the center, the five parts of The Turn of a Friendly Card come in sequence. Guitars, keyboards, saxophone and multiple voices make up the lineup. After Fragile and Prime Time, Sirius leads into Eye in the Sky.
The close brings Breakdown together with The Raven and leaves Games People Play for last. The footage circulates as an SWR TV recording, with no confirmed commercial video release. It preserves a phase between LiveSpan, released in 2013, and The Secret, which would only arrive in 2019: the old repertoire stays in motion.
- The five parts of The Turn of a Friendly Card take the center of the performance.
