Context
On August 15, 2021, the clouds over Catton Hall meet a stage occupied by fantasy characters. Gloryhammer plays Bloodstock on Sunday, with Thomas Winkler out front as Angus McFife. The performance still belongs to the era of Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex, the band's third album.
On the Ronnie James Dio Stage, Winkler leads The Land of Unicorns before a crowd packed with inflatable animals. During Gloryhammer, he faces a goblin onstage. The theatrics accompany ten songs: The Siege of Dunkeld opens the attack, while Universe on Fire and The Unicorn Invasion of Dundee close the set.
A week later, the band announces Winkler's departure. The singer says he had not expected Bloodstock to be their last performance together, and the show takes on a weight it did not have on the festival schedule. The professional recording preserves this lineup's final performance and reaches the public in full in January 2022.
