Context
In October 2010, Noel Rosa's centenary meets a duo also celebrating twenty years of collaboration. At Teatro Sesc Ginástico in Rio de Janeiro, Gilson Peranzzetta and Mauro Senise dedicate the evening to the composer from Vila Isabel. The program features fourteen songs, with arrangements by Peranzzetta.
Gilson's piano shares the melodies with Mauro's saxophones and flutes. Zeca Assumpção and Amoy Ribas expand the lineup, while Alaíde Costa brings Noel's words to four numbers. On the final four songs, Quarteto Bessler adds strings to the gathering; the singer also joins them on Feitio de Oração.
The tribute is released on CD and DVD by Biscoito Fino in 2011. The release preserves the meeting of the duo's instrumental interpretations and Alaíde's vocals, without separating the melodies from Noel's observations of everyday life. More than an anniversary celebration, the recording keeps this repertoire in circulation through new combinations of instruments.
- Alaíde Costa and Quarteto Bessler come together on Feitio de Oração.
