DJ MAM — Festival Demarcação Já Remix — Amazônia
Recorded 2021
Museu do Amanhã and remote appearances · Rio de Janeiro ·
Brazil
Featuring Gilberto Gil
“To watch the closing program of the fifth edition, connecting Museu do Amanhã with the movement for Indigenous land demarcation.”
Context
On the shores of Guanabara Bay, Museu do Amanhã serves as a meeting point for music and Indigenous activism. The festival's fifth edition began there on September 5, 2021, Amazon Day, with Coral Guarani Tenonderã. A week of discussions leads into Saturday's digital closing program.
DJ MAM hosts the program from the museum, bringing together remote appearances, songs, music videos, and remarks. There is no single band sharing the same stage: the format brings artists and activists together around land demarcation. Gilberto Gil contributes Demarcação Já and Do Guarani ao Guaraná, while the broadcast asks for donations to Apib and the choir.
The mobilization continues after the closing program. On September 17, Jazz Botânico, the duo of DJ MAM and Rodrigo Sha, releases Demarcação Jazz, featuring vocals by Elza Soares and Ney Matogrosso and contributions from Xavante Indigenous participants. The festival recording remains available as a digital program: music and political action share the same sequence, without being separated into performance and intermission.
