Context
Fifteen years separate this Thursday from Dark Tranquillity's previous Bloodstock appearance in 2007. On August 11, 2022, the band returns as the headliner on the Sophie Lancaster Stage. Christopher Amott sits out for family reasons, and Johan Reinholdz handles guitar alone before a packed tent.
Mikael Stanne leads fifteen songs through keyboards, electronics and Gothenburg melodic death metal riffs. Identical to None and Transient pave the way for Monochromatic Stains. Moment supplies four tracks, but the past still has room: The New Build, Final Resistance and ThereIn run through the set before the closing Misery's Crown.
The performance also captures a lineup in transition. Christian Jansson and Joakim Strandberg Nilsson play as supporting musicians, before both become full members in 2023. The full footage begins circulating in January of that year, preserving this meeting between the Moment era and a rhythm section still taking shape.
- Johan Reinholdz handles guitar alone in Christopher Amott's absence.
