Context
On February 4, 2025, a Nantes brewery becomes the setting for a celebration of the piano. LAB hosts the ARTE Concert edition that marks ten years of Piano Day. Yann Tiersen arrives with material not yet released on record, tied to the places of a boat trip he made in 2023.
Alone at the keyboard, Tiersen focuses the performance on the acoustic side of Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour. Ninnog opens the journey, which passes through Fastnet, Norðragøta and Bigton before reaching Caledonian Canal. With no band or guests, the piano carries the eight pieces; Kerber and Porz Goret close the program.
When the session reaches the public, at the end of March, the album is about to come out. It is released on April 4, on Mute, bringing together instrumental piano and a second, electronic part. ARTE's recording preserves another scale of this project: before the synthesizers take over, one musician and one keyboard.
- Kerber and Porz Goret close a performance devoted mostly to the new piano pieces.
