Context
On May 5, 2026, a piano sits at the center of the riding arena of the great stables at Chantilly. David Fray brings to this space the repertoire of Baroque Encores, released the previous November. The idea sets pieces originally written for keyboard alongside music that reaches the piano through the hands of other performers.
Fray begins with Royer, moves through Couperin and Rameau and devotes the second part to Bach. Kempff, Monsaingeon, Stradal and Siloti sign the transcriptions, bringing to the instrument pages for flute, violin, organ and orchestra. A riderless horse takes part in the scene, while the recital takes the shape of a circular journey.
The performance circulates as an ARTE Concert program, directed by Sébastien Lefebvre and produced by THE Shift. The recording preserves a nine-piece selection from the album's world. Instead of reproducing a concert hall, it keeps the meeting of the piano, the animal and the equestrian architecture.
