Context
At 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, Bloodstock's main stage welcomes a band that seems out of place among the heavier names on the bill. On August 12, 2023, Royal Republic arrives at Catton Park with the RATA-TATA TOUR and the danceable rock of an era still shaped by Club Majesty.
Adam Grahn, Hannes Irengård, Jonas Almén and Per Andreasson work with humor and synchronized moves. Fireman & Dancer opens the set; Full Steam Spacemachine and Tommy-Gun revisit the first album. The crowd in Carcass and Deicide shirts gets into the groove too. Near the end, Battery makes a direct connection to the festival's territory.
Baby closes the roughly forty-minute set, and the full performance begins circulating as a Bloodstock concert recording in October of that year. The next studio album, LoveCop, arrives in June 2024. Preserved here is the meeting between the quartet's pop appeal and a festival that brings together different strains of metal.
- Battery brings the quartet into Metallica's repertoire before the closing Baby.
