Album featured at the showEnredo2014The DVD follows the album sessions and brings together sambas-enredo composed for Aprendizes da Boca do Mato and Vila Isabel.“To see Martinho bring his family together in the studio in the year Vila Isabel wins another Carnival title.”
Context
In 2013, Vila Isabel wins Carnival with a samba written by Martinho and his collaborators. That same year, the composer enters the studio to revisit another side of that history: the old carnival themes of Aprendizes da Boca do Mato and the compositions that never made it to the parade route. The research becomes a family gathering.
Martinho sings and talks about how the sambas came to be, surrounded by his children. Beth Carvalho joins him on Onde o Brasil Aprendeu a Liberdade and Sonho de um Sonho; Alcione sings Prece ao Sol and Iemanjá, Desperta with him. Trinca Própria, Maíra Freitas, Juju Ferreirah and Tunico expand the circle, which also welcomes Samba do Barão.
The sessions form the basis of the CD Enredo, released before Carnival in 2014, and take on a second life on the DVD of the same name. Directors Sandro Arieta and Tiago Marreiro weave behind-the-scenes footage and animation into the musical journey. This is not a parade night: it is the work of preserving sambas that the competition leaves behind.
- Beth Carvalho and Alcione join Martinho for two samba-enredo medleys.

Trivia
The repertoire is divided into three sections: Campeão na Boca do Mato, Campeão na Vila and Cortado na Quadra.
Trinca Própria brings together three of Martinho's children: Mart’nália, Analimar and Martinho Tonho.
The initial concept called for acoustic guitar, cavaquinho and percussion; the project grows to include other instruments and a chorus.
The DVD combines the musical recordings with family conversations about the creation of the sambas.
