Context
In November 2014, Espaço Tom Jobim hosts a double celebration: Francis Hime turns 75 and marks fifty years in music. As part of Festival Villa-Lobos, the composer brings together recent material from Navega Ilumina and songs he wrote with collaborators from different generations.
On piano and vocals, Francis works with an ensemble that brings together acoustic guitar, cavaquinho, winds, cello and percussion. Cristina Braga takes up the harp for an instrumental fantasia; Cláudio Cruz plays the violin solo in another. Between these pieces, the songs retain their place, and Olívia Hime shares Trocando em Miúdos with the composer.
The Canal Brasil recording is released on CD and DVD by Biscoito Fino in 2015. The DVD preserves all 21 songs and adds the studio gathering 5 em Ponto. The celebration goes beyond a retrospective: it places instrumental writing alongside the collaborations that continue to feed the songs.
- Cristina Braga and Cláudio Cruz take the solos in the fantasias for harp and violin.
- Olívia Hime shares Trocando em Miúdos with Francis.
