Context
On October 31, 2013, Jobim Jazz's journey across Brazil reaches its final stage: Auditório Ibirapuera, in São Paulo. Mario Adnet brings to the concert research that has already taken shape across two albums. This exploration centers on Tom Jobim's less obvious compositions, approached through the language of jazz.
Adnet plays acoustic guitar and serves as musical director for an ensemble that brings guitar, piano, bass, and percussion together with an extensive wind section. Takatanga opens the program, which moves through Mojave, Sue Ann, and O Boto. Nana Caymmi takes the vocal lead on Derradeira Primavera, Por Causa de Você, and Estrada do Sol, before the closing Polo Pony.
The performance is released on CD and DVD in 2015, accompanied by a making-of documentary that broadens the portrait of the tour. The following year, the CD receives a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Latin Jazz Album. The recording captures the meeting of Adnet's research and Nana's voice without reducing Jobim to his most frequently played hits.
- Nana Caymmi sings three Jobim collaborations with Vinicius de Moraes and Dolores Duran.
