“To see Sururu close a 22-show tour of Japan in Yokohama in 2014.”
Context
In December 2014, Yokohama marks the end of a tour of 22 shows across 20 Japanese cities. For Nilze and Silvio Carvalho, who lived in Japan between 1991 and 1997, it is also a reunion. Sururu na Roda arrives at Kanagawa Prefecture Hall in the year the group wins the Prêmio da Música Brasileira.
Onstage, Nilze, Silvio and Fabiano Salek share vocals, backed by drums, bass, acoustic guitar, winds and percussion. Aquarela do Brasil leads into sambas, bossa novas and original compositions. The Dorival Caymmi segment finds room between Sururu Formado and Ano Hini Kaeritai, a song by Yumi Matsutoya that the trio sings in Japanese.
The closing stretch moves through Tia Eulália and leads into Aquarela Brasileira. In 2016, Biscoito Fino releases the performance on CD and DVD under the title Made In Japan. The group's second DVD captures this encounter: musicians rooted in Rio's Lapa neighborhood end a long journey by bringing samba to a Japanese theater.
- Ano Hini Kaeritai brings the trio's repertoire closer to Japanese popular song.
