Context
The heat bears down on Catton Park on August 12, 2022. On the Ronnie James Dio stage, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein's white makeup meets a festival battered by high temperatures. The band arrives at Bloodstock in the year it resumes touring after the pandemic shutdown.
Alex Story takes the microphone, with Brandon Strate on bass and Wade Murff on drums. Abominator opens a ten-song set, split evenly between the group's two albums. There is no dip into the Misfits songbook: Beast Like Me, Witchcraft and We Belong Dead sustain the quartet's own identity.
Hope Hell Is Warm closes the performance before the forty-minute mark. In April 2023, the festival itself releases the full footage, preserving this meeting of American horror punk and an English stage. The recording captures a period with just two studio albums, without relying on the repertoire that made its guitarist known.
- Ten original songs, without drawing on the Misfits repertoire.
