Context
More than two decades into their career, there is still room for a first. On August 11, 2023, Killswitch Engage headlines a British outdoor festival for the first time. Catton Park welcomes a band that helped bring 2000s metalcore to larger audiences.
My Curse opens the night with the crowd singing along. Jesse Leach shares the lead with Adam Dutkiewicz, balancing the singer's intensity with the guitarist's antics. Bursts of pyro expand the production, while Joel Stroetzel, Mike D'Antonio and Justin Foley anchor the transitions between different eras of the repertoire.
The final stretch brings together The End of Heartache and My Last Serenade before Holy Diver, a particularly fitting tribute on the Ronnie James Dio Stage. In December, the full professional footage becomes publicly available, preserving all 21 songs. The recording captures the night the band finally claims this spot on the British festival calendar.
- Holy Diver closes the night on the Ronnie James Dio Stage.
