Context
After the pandemic brings live shows to a halt, playing to a crowd becomes a tangible reality again. On August 14, 2021, Malevolence makes its Bloodstock debut at Catton Park. The Sheffield band arrives on the Ronnie James Dio Stage after playing Download Pilot, held in June as British festivals return.
Alex Taylor rallies the crowd, and the space in front of the amps turns into circle pits, a wall of death, and crowd surfing. Serpents Chokehold launches the attack. Josh Baines and Konan Hall lead the guitars, while The Other Side slows the pace before the final blast of Keep Your Distance.
All three tracks from the 2020 EP The Other Side appear in the set, linking this debut to the band's next phase. In 2022, Malicious Intent arrives via Nuclear Blast. The performance is preserved in full on video: seven songs that capture the quintet's meeting with Bloodstock as big stages return.
- The Other Side slows the show down before Keep Your Distance closes the set.
