Context
About an hour from Sheffield, While She Sleeps had yet to set foot at Bloodstock. On August 14, 2021, that distance finally disappears. The quintet arrives on the Ronnie James Dio Stage with Sleeps Society released four months earlier and draws one of the weekend's largest crowds.
The title track opens the set and gets the circle pits moving. Brainwashed and Four Walls lead the singalongs, while Anti-Social and You Are We connect earlier eras to the recent material. Loz Taylor admits he is still dealing with the effects of COVID-19, but makes his way through the crowd and climbs the sound tower. The distance between stage and audience becomes a physical route.
Closing with SYSTEMATIC keeps the new album at the center of the debut. In January 2022, the full performance is published in the festival's audiovisual archive; in June, Sleeps Society receives an expanded edition. The recording preserves this first encounter: a band with big-stage production, still earning its place before a new audience.
- Loz Taylor makes his way through the audience and climbs the sound tower.
