Context
In August 2022, taking a stage outside Ukraine carries a weight that goes beyond the festival schedule. After the Russian invasion, Jinjer received permission to travel as an ambassador for the country. On August 13, the quartet arrives at Bloodstock for the first time during a heat wave in England.
The performance begins on the Ronnie James Dio stage. Tatiana Shmayluk alternates between clean singing and growls, with Pisces exposing that contrast directly. Ukrainian flags and blue balls move through the crowd. Between songs, the singer gives thanks for British humanitarian aid; Call Me a Symbol and Vortex bring Wallflowers to the center of the show.
The stop at Catton Park is part of a summer of European festivals, ahead of a new North American tour announced for the fall. The full recording remains in Bloodstock's audiovisual archive, with nine songs in around 46 minutes. The debut captures a band returning to work without leaving the war offstage.
