Edu Lobo is one of the most sophisticated composers in Brazilian music, an heir to bossa nova who early on took it to the Northeast and to the theater. He won the 1967 Record festival with “Ponteio” and wrote, with Vinicius de Moraes, Gianfrancesco Guarnieri and Capinam, songs with deep popular roots, such as “Arrastão” and “Upa, Neguinho”.
With Chico Buarque, he created scores like O Grande Circo Místico, in a body of work of dense harmonies and long-breathed melodies.
