Album featured at the showA Mortal Binding2024The 2nd of Three Bells represents A Mortal Binding in a set focused on earlier records.“To see My Dying Bride at the Temple after the 2022 cancellation, now with Mikko Kotamäki on vocals.”
Context
On June 19, 2026, arriving at Hellfest does not mean being ready to play. With no instruments or clothes, and no sleep, My Dying Bride have to sort out the basics before taking the Temple. The performance also follows another rupture: Aaron Stainthorpe had left the group for good in October 2025.
Mikko Kotamäki, of Swallow the Sun, takes the microphone. A Kiss to Remember opens a run of nine songs that spans different phases of the band. From Darkest Skies and The Cry of Mankind appear side by side; The 2nd of Three Bells brings A Mortal Binding to the center of a mostly older set.
The Raven and the Rose closes the show that almost did not happen. Afterward, the band thanks ESP, Garmonbozia and the festival crew for their help with instruments and logistics. ARTE's filming preserves the complete performance: a document of the group's continuity when even the material conditions for playing had to be rebuilt.
- The performance takes place with instruments found at the last minute, after the band arrived without gear.
