Context
The heat weighs on the last Sunday of Hellfest, June 21, 2026. On the Altar stage, Napalm Death plays without Shane Embury, off the road due to health problems. Adam Clarkson takes over on bass alongside Barney Greenway, John Cooke and Danny Herrera, in a lineup that keeps the schedule moving.
Greenway runs, waves his arms and tangles the mic cable in a fan. Between songs, he takes on intolerance with words of support for gay and trans people. Instinct of Survival leads into Continuing War on Stupidity, Everyday Pox and Amoral. After the Incinerator cover, Cooke falls ill and the show stops.
The guitarist comes back with a damp towel around his neck, and the band closes with Nazi Punks Fuck Off and You Suffer. ARTE's footage keeps the songs but cuts the wait and the explanations of the incident. The film captures a night when the will to carry on runs into the physical limits of the people playing.
- John Cooke returns to the stage for the closing Nazi Punks Fuck Off and You Suffer.
