Tour albumOlivia ByingtonA Vida é PertoThe album of original material gives rise to the monologue-style show, which expands on its songs with music from other stages of her career.“To see Olivia bring to DVD the monologue-style show born from her 2007 turn toward original songwriting.”
Context
An acoustic guitar and a computer take the band's place. At Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim in Rio, Olivia Byington turns the stage into an extension of her own home. The show takes shape after her album of original songs, released in Brazil in 2007, bringing her new collaborations together with songs already woven through her career.
Olivia sings and tells stories, never entirely separating the two. Mãe da Manhã opens the musical journey; Fotografia and Modinha nº 1 meet compositions written with Tiago Torres da Silva. The laptop expands this space: Yves Montand joins through a recording on Feuilles Mortes, while Seu Jorge makes a virtual appearance in the closing number.
The show goes on the road and gets a DVD release through Biscoito Fino in 2008. The recording brings together nineteen numbers, spanning original songs, samba, French chanson, and even Pense em Mim, a hit by Leandro & Leonardo. Rather than simply assembling a retrospective, it preserves a format in which the singer guides the encounters and memories on her own.
- Yves Montand and Seu Jorge appear through recordings triggered on the laptop.
