Nana Caymmi, daughter of Dorival Caymmi, was one of the deepest and most dramatic voices in Brazilian music. A Rio native with a strong temperament and a low timbre, she won the national round of the 1966 Festival Internacional da Canção with “Saveiros”, by Dori Caymmi and Nelson Motta, and became a leading interpreter of the love songs of Tom Jobim, Ivan Lins, Milton Nascimento and her own father. She died in 2025, leaving albums of nocturnal mood and undisguised passion.
