June Carter Cash was born in Maces Spring, Virginia, and grew up performing with the Carter Family and, later, with her sisters and mother. A singer, songwriter and comedian, she wrote “Ring of Fire”, recorded by Johnny Cash, whom she married in 1968. After decades sharing stages and tours with him, she resumed her solo career with the albums Press On and Wildwood Flower. She died in 2003.
