Carpenters

The duo formed by siblings Karen and Richard Carpenter rose to prominence in 1970 with their version of “(They Long to Be) Close to You” and the album of the same name, after releasing Offering the year before.

They went on to score with songs such as “We've Only Just Begun” and “Top of the World”, on albums such as Carpenters and A Song for You. The duo ended with Karen’s death in 1983; Richard continued with projects tied to the group’s repertoire.
