The Gathering

The Gathering emerged in Oss, in the Netherlands, in 1989, initially tied to death/doom metal. The arrival of singer Anneke van Giersbergen marked Mandylion (1995), an album that widened its audience; Nighttime Birds and the experimental How to Measure a Planet? cemented changes in sound.

Anneke left in 2007, and Silje Wergeland took over vocals. After a break starting in 2014, the group returned to the stage and released Beautiful Distortion in 2022.
