Roy Orbison was born in Vernon, Texas, and grew up in Wink, where he started playing guitar and singing. After recording for Sun Records, he moved to Monument and scored with songs such as “Only the Lonely” and “Oh, Pretty Woman”, as well as albums such as In Dreams.
After a period of less success, he returned to public attention in the 1980s: he joined the Traveling Wilburys and released Mystery Girl, shortly before his death in 1988.
