Rosanne Cash was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and began her recording career in the late 1970s, after working with her father Johnny Cash’s band. Seven Year Ache, from 1981, took its title track to the top of the US country chart and marked her first successful phase.
In the following years, she broadened her repertoire beyond commercial country. The River & the Thread, released in 2014, returned to themes tied to the American South and won three Grammy Awards.
