“To see the Amigos reunion become a recording at Allianz Parque, two decades after the 1990s specials.”
Context
Two decades separate the 1990s TV specials from this reunion at Allianz Parque. On September 7, 2019, Chitãozinho, Xororó, Leonardo, Zezé Di Camargo and Luciano revive in São Paulo a partnership that now takes to the road. The tour had begun in July, in Belo Horizonte, on Friendship Day.
The five cross their repertoires and share the microphones beyond their original duos. João Carlos Martins sits at the piano for Fio de Cabelo. Amon Lima brings his violin up close to the singers on Mexe Que É Bom. Among the familiar hits, Única introduces a song written for the comeback.
The performance is also made with television in mind. In December, Globo airs a shortened version of the night, while Som Livre releases the 39-track album and begins distributing the audiovisual recordings. A História Continua turns the reunion into a document: five voices together, with room for the stories each one carries.
- João Carlos Martins accompanies the five singers on piano on Fio de Cabelo.
