Sinéad O'Connor

Sinéad O'Connor was born in Dublin and made her recording debut with The Lion and the Cobra in 1987. The album’s voice and songs drew attention, but it was the follow-up, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got, that expanded her international reach.

Her version of “Nothing Compares 2 U”, written by Prince, topped charts in several countries. Over her career, she explored Irish traditional music and reggae, and spoke out publicly on political and religious issues. She died in 2023.
