Geraldo Azevedo was born in Petrolina, on the banks of the São Francisco River, and made his guitar a bridge between the sertão, bossa nova and pop. He started alongside Alceu Valença on their shared 1972 album and built a body of luminous songs such as “Dia Branco”, “Moça Bonita” and “Táxi Lunar”.
With Alceu, Elba Ramalho and Zé Ramalho, he formed O Grande Encontro, a celebration of a northeastern generation that changed the map of MPB.
