Venom did not invent evil in metal, but gave it a basement accent, warm beer and blasphemy cheap enough to become a revolution. From Newcastle, Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon made Welcome to Hell and Black Metal sound like a tape found at a crime scene.

Technically crude, culturally explosive, the band paved the way for thrash, black metal and future extremes, proving that influence sometimes comes from a mistake played with absolute conviction.
