Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers formed in Gainesville, Florida, and released their first album in 1976. The band found an audience in the United Kingdom before establishing itself in the United States, with songs like “American Girl” and “Breakdown”.

Damn the Torpedoes, from 1979, cemented the group, which went on to record albums such as Full Moon Fever, in collaboration with Jeff Lynne, and Into the Great Wide Open. After Petty’s death in 2017, the members ended their activities as a band.
