Antonio Carlos Jobim is the composer who gave bossa nova its harmonic architecture and gave Brazil a permanent place in the world repertoire. Born in Rio, a partner of Vinicius de Moraes, Newton Mendonça and Chico Buarque, he wrote “Chega de Saudade”, “Garota de Ipanema”, “Wave” and “Águas de Março”, joining Debussy, samba and nature in songs of exemplary economy.
From his meeting with João Gilberto to the record with Frank Sinatra and the orchestral albums Matita Perê and Urubu, his music crossed the century. He died in 1994.
