Tim Maia

Sebastião Rodrigues Maia was born in Rio de Janeiro and, after living in the United States and getting to know soul music firsthand, returned to Brazil to record his first LP, Tim Maia, in 1970.

The album featured Azul da Cor do Mar and Primavera. In 1975, he released Tim Maia Racional, marking a period tied to Cultura Racional. He continued recording until his death in 1998, after falling ill during a concert in Niterói.
