The Highwaymen brought together Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson in 1985, as a country supergroup tied to the outlaw scene. The debut album, Highwayman, featured the title track, which reached number one on the US country charts.
The quartet released two more records, Highwayman 2 and The Road Goes On Forever, between 1990 and 1995, a period in which it also toured. The group's activity ended in 1995.
