The Divine Comedy

The Divine Comedy emerged in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, in 1989, with Neil Hannon at the helm. After debuting with Fanfare for the Comic Muse in 1990, the project found its form on Liberation, Promenade and Casanova, released in 1996 and responsible for widening its audience.

The lineup changed over time, and Hannon came to lead the group as its main writer and member. After a break from releases, it returned with Rainy Sunday Afternoon in 2025.
