The Band

The Band grew out of the Hawks, the group that backed Ronnie Hawkins in Toronto. After playing with Bob Dylan, the musicians settled in Woodstock, New York, and recorded Music from Big Pink, released in 1968.

The next album, The Band, cemented songs such as “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”. The group ended its touring years with The Last Waltz concert in 1976 and reunited in different lineups in the years that followed.
