Stuttgarter Philharmoniker

The Stuttgarter Philharmoniker was founded in Stuttgart in 1924 as the Philharmonisches Orchester Stuttgart. In 1933, the ensemble was split up, and after World War II musicians tied to the former orchestra came together again under the current name.

Since 1976, the city of Stuttgart has funded the group, which combines symphonic concerts with film music projects and programs called Philharmonic Pops. Its recordings include Mahler cycles and works by Respighi.
