Soledad Pastorutti was born in Arequito, in the Argentine province of Santa Fe, and from childhood performed at folk music festivals with her sister, Natalia. In 1996, her appearance at the Cosquín Festival drew national attention; the following year, she released Poncho al viento, the record that marked her large-scale debut.
After renewing folk music's reach among young audiences, she kept recording traditional repertoire and her own songs, and also worked as a television host.
